Hello Ontario members,
I hope everyone has had a great start to National Breastfeeding Week 2026!
Jessica Zimmer from Parkdale Queen West Community Health Centre reached out to an MPP, and together with a working group of members from across Ontario, a petition was created to advocate for accessible infant feeding support. The first ask is for a province wide infant feeding strategy. The plan is to specify IBCLC support, peer support and collaboration within the larger health care system.
We would appreciate it if you could share this petition within your networks, both in person and online. Please consider sharing with decision-makers, as well as clients and families impacted by systemic gaps in infant feeding support—especially in communities that need it most.
Why Petitions Matter:
Petitions amplify constituent concerns and demonstrate the public's commitment to an issue. When in session, MPPs present petitions during the daily agenda. Large volumes of both physical paper petitions and digital signatures create a strong impact and apply the necessary pressure to drive change.
How to Participate:
- Share the Link:https://www.robinlennox.ca/accessible_infant_feeding_support_for_all_families_in_ontario
- Post and Tag collaborators on Social Media (FB, Instgram, X) - see post attached
- Paper Petitions: Please mail signed physical petitions to the Hamilton address listed on the document (or coordinate local collections to send in a larger batch).
